Last Updated: October 31, 2024
Acronym Media, Inc. (“Acronym”, “we”, “us” or “our”), is committed to protecting your privacy. Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we want to help you understand the terms and conditions surrounding the collection and use of that information. Our pledge is to use our best reasonable commercial measures to safeguard any personal information that you provide us, and to make every reasonable effort to use this information only as you choose.
The goal of this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) is to advise you of the online privacy practices of acronym.com (“Site”) and the services it provides (“Services”) and to describe the choices you have about the way the information collected on this Site ant the Services is used. Sites maintained by affiliates of Acronym and other entities, although perhaps linked to Acronym have their own privacy policies. If you have accessed the Services provided by the Site via a website of one of our affiliates, then any information you provide to that affiliate is shared between us and them under privacy controls not less stringent than those for the Site.
In most situations, we process personal information on behalf of our clients, and they determine the purposes and means of processing that information. This Privacy Policy applies to the situations where we are responsible for determining the purposes and means of processing your information (i.e., we are acting as a “controller” or “business” in relation to your data).
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Information” refers to information that identifies or could reasonably identify a known individual. This Privacy Policy only applies to Personal Information and other information collected by us from: (i) visitors to the Site (“Site Visitors”); (ii) our current and prospective customers and Clients (“Clients”) through our Services; and (iii) people applying for employment with Acronym (“Employment Applicants”). If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us at. [email protected]
This Privacy Policy applies only to the extent that Acronym is a data controller. For large parts of its business, Acronym’s Clients determine the purposes and means of processing Personal Information, making Acronym a data processor in relation to that information. Accordingly, to learn more about how your Personal Information is processed by these Clients and to exercise your data rights in relation to the Personal Information for which these Clients act as a controller, you should contact those Clients directly.
When we do process information for our own purposes, we don’t ask for it unless we need it, and the only reasons would be for you to contact us to hear about our services, join our newsletter, download or sign up to receive content, offer our services, or join our team
We share your personal information as little as possible, including some co-marketing and co-sponsoring events, and to comply with applicable laws, develop, enhance or modify our services or protect our rights.

1.2. Information Automatically Collected from the Site
Like most website operators, Acronym collects information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available. The information we collect may include:
- Public IP addresses, from content publishers, marketing partners, our Clients, and users of the Site. A Public IP address is a unique number associated with each device that connects to the internet. When there are multiple devices that connect to the internet through a single computer network, the network displays a single Public IP address for all of the devices. In that situation, we may collect the single Public IP address and do not collect the IP addresses for the individual devices.
- User Device information, (i.e., information about a consumer’s web browser, software, device, and operating system) from content publishers, marketing partners, and users of the Site.
- “Cookies”, from content publishers and from users of this Site (you can find more details on Cookies in Section 1.4 below).
- Mobile Advertising IDs, from content publishers and from users of this Site. Mobile Advertising IDs are identifying numbers assigned to a consumer’s mobile device by the device’s operating system.
- User identifiers, from our Clients and from content publishers. A user identifier is a unique string of numbers that may be assigned to a consumer when the consumer visits a website.
- Geolocation data, which we collect from a commercial subscription database.
For location information, some of our Services may include features based on an individual’s actual location and may report on an individual’s current location (“Location-Based Services”). To the extent you use any Location-Based Services, we may collect and store information about your location at the time you use those Location-Based Services (in addition to some automatically collected geolocation data). This information can come from a variety of sources depending on the device you use to access the Services; for example, a mobile phone may report its GPS location at the time Location-Based Services are used.
If you no longer wish for us to collect and use location information, you may disable the location features on your device. Consult your device manufacturer settings for instructions. Please note that if you disable such features, your ability to access certain features, Services, content, or promotions may be limited or disabled.
1.3. Information Received Directly from or Processed on Behalf of Clients
Acronym may receive data, including personally identifiable or aggregate data, from our Clients that we process per a contract in place with these Clients. This may include the following information:
- Data about individuals’ transactions with our Clients, which we collect from our Clients. Such data may include information about the number of purchases, items purchased, and cost of those purchases, but does not include things like name, email or Personal Information from the transaction.
- Data about individuals’ behaviors on our Clients’ websites and social media accounts, which we collect from our Clients. Such data may include information about whether an individual performed certain actions on the Client’s website – for example, whether an individual clicked certain links or visited certain pages, as well as communications between you and our Clients through our Client’s social media accounts
We do not have a direct relationship with these individuals and are acting as a service provider to our Clients in this instance. While we maintain this data, we only use it at the explicit direction of the Client to provide the Services we are contracted to provide.
1.4. Cookies
Information We Collect Automatically:
Acronym, our service providers, or our third-party partners may also automatically collect information from you when you visit our Site and use our Services through cookies and other tracking technologies. Such information does not directly identify you as an individual and may include:
Cookies and Similar Technology
We may store some information on your device or device hard drive as a cookie or similar type of file (such as clear gifs, web beacons, tags, and similar technologies that work on mobile devices) to collect data related to usage of the Site or our other Services. “Cookies” are pieces of information that may be placed on your computer by a website for the purpose of collecting data to facilitate and enhance your communication and interaction with that website. Such data may include, without limitation, the address of the websites you visited before and after you visited the website, the type of browser you are using, your Internet Protocol (IP) address, what pages in the Website you visit and what links you clicked on, the region where your device is located, and geo-IP data. We may use cookies to customize your visit to the Site and for other purposes to make your visit more convenient or to enable us to enhance our Services.
Clickstream
As you use the Internet, a trail of electronic information is left at each website you visit. This information, which is sometimes referred to as “clickstream data,” can be collected and stored by a website’s server. Clickstream data can tell us the type of computer and browsing software you use and the address of the website from which you linked to the Site. We may collect and use clickstream data as a form of aggregate information to anonymously determine how much time visitors spend on each page of the Site, how visitors navigate throughout the Site and how we may tailor our web pages to better meet the needs of visitors. This information will be used to improve the Site and our Services.
Analytics
We may work with third-party service providers who use the technologies described in this section to conduct website analytics to help us track and understand how visitors use the Site and other Services.
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Acronym use cookies to help us identify and track Site Visitors, their usage of the Site, and their website access preferences. Site visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using the Site, with the drawback that certain features of the Site may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
1.4.1. What Kinds of Cookies and Tracking Technologies Do We Use?
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are necessary for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
Performance Cookies
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our Site and will not be able to monitor its performance.
Functional Cookies
These cookies enable the Site to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.
Targeting Cookies
These cookies may be set through our Site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites. They do not store directly personal information but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.
