Meet Acronym’s Sha Salim
Search Manager
Based in Singapore, Sha Salim leads the SEO Team for Acronym Asia
When did you join Acronym?
I joined Acronym just over four years ago, in May of 2011.
Which Acronym clients do you work for?
My current SEO clients include AIA, Great Eastern Life, GHM Hotels and, most recently, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
What are some of the most impactful changes affecting the SEO business that Baidu and Google have made in the last 12 months?
The mobile updates on both Google (Mobilegeddon) and Baidu (Ice Bucket). Both of them focus on the user-experience from website visits via mobile devices.
What are the lingering effects of those changes and how is Acronym helping its clients adjust to them?
The lingering impact is that the importance of having a mobile-friendly site is now heightened. With mobile search being on the rise and consumers seeking information on the go, on their mobile devices, it is imperative that a website remains easily visible and that mobile conversions (if any) are maintained. We have made recommendations to clients that do not have a mobile-friendly website to make adjustments so that they can leverage these updates. This includes suggesting the creation of a responsive website and/or mobile site and even something less complicated as placing the website on a mobile sub-domain.
What do you like to do best when you are not working?
I enjoy reading, catching up on TV shows and, when time permits, I travel. I love picking up new languages (Korean or German is next on the list!). To keep fit, I do high-intensity workouts several times a week.
